Training course
Overview
Stakeholder
Mapping and Engagement Plans is the study and practical application of the
principles, processes, tools, and techniques required to identify, analyze,
prioritize, communicate with, influence, and effectively engage stakeholders
throughout the project lifecycle. The course covers essential areas such as
stakeholder identification, stakeholder analysis, stakeholder mapping,
influence and interest assessment, stakeholder prioritization, communication
planning, engagement strategies, stakeholder expectations, relationship
management, conflict management, stakeholder risk, and engagement monitoring.
Participants will develop the practical skills required to understand
stakeholder needs, assess stakeholder influence, establish appropriate
engagement approaches, and build productive relationships that support project
and organizational success.
The
primary purpose of effective stakeholder management is to ensure that
individuals, groups, organizations, sponsors, customers, regulators, partners,
employees, communities, and other interested parties are appropriately
understood and engaged throughout a project. Project managers and
organizational leaders must be able to identify stakeholders early, assess
their interests and influence, understand their expectations, determine their
level of support or resistance, and develop tailored engagement strategies. The
course incorporates project management standards and frameworks, stakeholder
registers, power-interest grids, influence-impact matrices, salience models,
stakeholder assessment matrices, communication plans, engagement assessment
matrices, RACI models, and practical stakeholder-management tools.
In
today's rapidly changing business environment, projects increasingly involve
diverse stakeholder groups, distributed teams, regulatory bodies, communities,
customers, suppliers, executives, technology partners, and other parties with
competing interests and expectations. Digital transformation, hybrid and remote
working, organizational change, public scrutiny, sustainability considerations,
social media, regulatory requirements, and complex project environments further
increase the importance of effective stakeholder engagement. This course
therefore combines traditional stakeholder-management principles with emotional
intelligence, active listening, strategic communication, negotiation, conflict
resolution, change management, cultural awareness, digital engagement,
data-driven stakeholder analysis, and modern collaboration practices.
Stakeholder
Mapping and Engagement Plans is therefore essential for project managers,
programme managers, portfolio managers, PMO professionals, business leaders,
change managers, communications professionals, consultants, team leaders,
business analysts, and professionals responsible for project relationships and
organizational outcomes. The course combines established project management
practices, practical stakeholder-analysis tools, engagement planning
techniques, case studies, exercises, simulations, role plays, communication
scenarios, and real-world workplace applications. Participants progressively
develop the ability to create comprehensive stakeholder maps, assess
stakeholder power and influence, develop tailored engagement plans, manage
expectations, address resistance, strengthen relationships, resolve stakeholder
conflicts, and maintain effective engagement throughout complex projects.
