Training course
Overview
Practical Construction
Procurement is a comprehensive hands-on professional training course
designed to develop the practical skills required to manage construction
procurement activities from initial material and service requirements through
sourcing, tendering, supplier selection, purchasing, delivery, inspection, and
performance monitoring. The course focuses on practical application rather than
theory alone, enabling participants to use procurement tools, templates,
registers, checklists, evaluation methods, and project controls in realistic
construction environments.
This practical construction
procurement training course covers the complete procurement lifecycle,
including procurement planning, package development, supplier identification,
quotation requests, tender documentation, technical and commercial evaluation,
negotiation, purchase orders, expediting, logistics, material receiving,
storage, quality verification, and supplier performance management.
Participants are introduced to relevant professional frameworks and standards
including ISO 9001 quality management, ISO 31000 risk management, ISO 20400
sustainable procurement, ethical procurement principles, total cost of
ownership, value engineering, and structured procurement governance.
The course emphasizes learning by
doing through realistic construction procurement scenarios, case studies,
workshops, simulations, and practical assignments. Participants work with
procurement schedules, material requisitions, supplier databases,
prequalification forms, quotation comparison sheets, tender evaluation
matrices, purchase orders, procurement risk registers, expediting trackers,
delivery inspection forms, supplier scorecards, procurement dashboards, and
corrective action plans. Practical exercises address common challenges such as
late deliveries, material shortages, incorrect specifications, supplier
underperformance, price changes, quality failures, and procurement-related
construction delays.
By the end of the Practical
Construction Procurement course, participants will have developed a complete
practical toolkit for planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling
construction procurement activities. The course enables participants to
coordinate procurement effectively with construction schedules, project cost
controls, quality requirements, logistics, and site operations while
maintaining accurate documentation, professional communication, risk awareness,
and commercial discipline. The final capstone integrates the techniques learned
throughout the programme into a realistic end-to-end construction procurement
assignment.
