Training Course

Overview

Peer Support Systems Implementation is a comprehensive professional training course designed to equip organizations with the knowledge, skills, structures, and practical tools required to establish effective peer support systems in the workplace. Peer support can strengthen connection, knowledge sharing, belonging, problem-solving, employee engagement, and early access to appropriate organizational resources. When deliberately designed and responsibly implemented, peer support systems can complement formal management, human resources, learning, employee assistance, wellbeing, and professional development structures while creating additional channels through which employees can support one another.

The course examines the foundations of effective peer support, including purpose definition, stakeholder identification, participant selection, role clarity, confidentiality, boundaries, inclusion, psychological safety, communication, safeguarding, referral pathways, governance, and program sustainability. Participants will explore practical frameworks such as stakeholder mapping, RACI-style responsibility allocation, SMART objectives, logic models, continuous improvement cycles, psychological safety principles, active listening frameworks, escalation matrices, and Plan-Do-Check-Act approaches. The training emphasizes that peer supporters are not substitutes for qualified professionals, managers, human resources teams, medical practitioners, counselors, or emergency services, and therefore focuses strongly on appropriate boundaries and responsible referral.

Through practical exercises, role plays, case studies, peer-support simulations, stakeholder-mapping activities, program-design workshops, communication exercises, referral-pathway development, and implementation planning, participants will learn how to move from a conceptual peer-support idea to an operational workplace system. Practical tools include peer-support role descriptions, selection criteria, training needs assessments, confidentiality agreements, communication charters, referral directories, escalation matrices, supervision schedules, participation guidelines, feedback forms, program dashboards, risk registers, and implementation checklists. Real-world scenarios address workplace stress, isolation, onboarding challenges, team conflict, change management, remote work, inclusion, performance pressures, and situations requiring escalation to formal support services.

By progressing from foundational concepts to advanced program governance and evaluation, this course enables organizations to build peer support systems that are structured, inclusive, ethical, measurable, and sustainable. Participants will learn how to secure stakeholder support, define program objectives, recruit and prepare peer supporters, establish safe operating procedures, integrate peer support with existing organizational resources, measure program effectiveness, and continuously improve delivery. The course concludes with a comprehensive Peer Support Systems Implementation Plan incorporating governance, roles, training, communication, referral pathways, risk management, measurement, continuous improvement, and a structured 30-, 60-, and 90-day implementation roadmap.
