Training Course
Overview
Desk
Stretching and Movement Breaks is a comprehensive professional training course
designed to help employees, managers, workplace wellness teams, human resources
professionals, and organizations develop practical movement routines for
desk-based and sedentary work environments. Prolonged sitting, repetitive
computer work, static postures, and extended periods of screen-based activity
can contribute to physical discomfort, reduced movement variety, fatigue, and
reduced workplace wellbeing. This course introduces practical principles for
incorporating short, manageable movement opportunities throughout the working
day while recognizing that individual physical needs and capabilities differ.
The
course explores the foundations of workplace movement, sedentary behavior,
posture variation, mobility, flexibility, movement breaks, workstation
awareness, and safe desk-based stretching. Participants will learn practical
frameworks and tools including movement-break schedules, activity audits,
ergonomic observation checklists, habit-stacking techniques, movement menus,
discomfort-monitoring logs, workstation self-assessment tools, implementation
intentions, Plan-Do-Check-Act improvement cycles, and workplace wellness
dashboards. The training emphasizes movement variety, gradual participation,
individual choice, appropriate intensity, and practical integration into real
working environments rather than promoting prolonged or strenuous exercise
during working hours.
Through
practical demonstrations, guided exercises, workstation scenarios,
movement-planning activities, case studies, observation exercises, team
challenges, and workplace simulations, participants will learn how to develop
appropriate movement routines for common desk-based situations. Activities may
include seated mobility, standing movement, gentle stretching, posture
variation, shoulder and upper-back mobility, wrist and hand movement,
lower-limb movement, breathing-and-reset breaks, walking opportunities, and
short movement sequences that can be incorporated between meetings or tasks.
Participants will also examine barriers such as workload, meeting schedules,
workplace culture, limited space, remote work, accessibility needs, and
employee participation.
By
progressing from foundational movement awareness to advanced workplace
movement-program design, this course enables participants to develop
sustainable strategies for reducing prolonged inactivity and encouraging
healthy movement habits during the workday. Participants will learn how to
design inclusive movement-break programs, communicate them appropriately,
monitor participation and employee feedback, recognize when activities should
be modified or stopped, and encourage professional assessment when an
individual experiences persistent or concerning symptoms. The course concludes
with an integrated Desk Movement and Stretching Framework incorporating needs
assessment, movement planning, ergonomic awareness, communication,
accessibility, participation, measurement, continuous improvement, and a
structured 30-, 60-, and 90-day implementation roadmap.
